Since commencing work in the tourism industry in 2014, Izabelle So has played a key role as Digital Marketing Officer to help position Bendigo as a leader in regional Australia. Izzy has been integral in coordinating Bendigo’s digital promotions of its major events and exhibitions and has worked closely with local businesses to build the digital capacity for the region. Izzy has made a big impact across the Bendigo region by successfully project managing the region’s new website platform, developing six tourism websites. Izzy has also volunteered since 2015 with the local Food Trade Network committee.

Taking up an entire city block in the heart of Melbourne, State Library Victoria is one of this city’s premier heritage destinations and attracts almost two million visitors each year. As the oldest public library in Australia, it’s one of Victoria’s cultural icons and is dedicated to history, culture, creativity and learning. With its majestic domed ceiling and original heritage furniture, the iconic La Trobe Reading Room takes visitors’ breath away. Anne joined Saxton Speakers Bureau in August 2018 and is the Chief Executive Officer of Saxton Speakers Bureau and Saxton Engage, a bureau that believes in the power of stories to drive positive change. Saxton is renowned for representing renowned talent in Asia and Pacific.

Prior to Saxton, Anne has over 30 years’ experience in Senior Executive roles within the events and hospitality industry including Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, the Accor Hotel Group, InterContinental Hotel Groups and Radisson Hotels.

Her accolades include Best Performance and Risk Taker Starwood Hotels and Resorts 2007; MEA Hall of Fame for Best Conference Venue; AHA Award for Best Hotel Local 2007 while at The Westin; and winner of the InterContinental Hotels Group ‘Sales Team of the Year’ for impact and influence.

In 2011, Anne was elected to the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) National Board after serving on the MEA National Council. Anne was appointed Vice Chair for four years, before being appointed Chair in 2016.

In 2018, Anne was appointed as Chair of Victorian Tourism Industry Events Council and holds a seat on the Board of Victorian Tourism Industry Council.

Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine (TGGB) is the Regional Tourism Board for the Greater Geelong Region. Based in Geelong, the largest regional city in Victoria, just an hour drive from Melbourne, we represent one of the most visited regions outside of Melbourne which includes Werribee, the Moorabool Valley, Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong.

Our award submission will be focused on our yearlong Industry & Professional Development program that we offer to our membership base of about 600 organisations. Our training sessions consists of face-to-face sessions, online training videos, blogs and one on one mentoring.

Bendigo Tourism partnered with Bendigo Art Gallery to create a destination marketing campaign that focussed on their Australian exclusive Tudors to Windsors exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery in London. The team innovatively marketed and branded this exhibition across Australia and New Zealand working with core sponsors and partners. The tourism team also worked closely the local industry to inspire and support over forty unique Royal and British experiences that were created across the region to encourage visitors to stay in the region. As a result, thousands of people visited Bendigo and spent money during this period.

Bunjilaka is located on the Country of the Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung peoples – custodians for thousands of generations. Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park

Moonlit Sanctuary is an internationally recognised native wildlife park within the UNESCO sponsored Westernport Biosphere in rural Pearcedale, positioned between the popular Victorian holiday destinations of Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula.

Home to 70 endangered Australian animal species (six of which are in species recovery programs), this privately-owned sanctuary offers an immersive ecotourism experience within a natural bushland setting, and dedicates 25% of profits to the rebuilding of Australian threatened species populations.

Less than one hour drive from Melbourne, Moonlit Sanctuary has more than 400 animals including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, dingoes and Tasmanian devils, as well as many rare and threatened species native to Southern Australia.

The Riverboats Music Festival is the Murray River’s premiere outdoor music event. Staged in the heart of Echuca-Moama and with paddlesteamers meandering past the festival stage all weekend. Riverboats was founded in 2012 and has presented performances by some of the biggest names in Australian music including Paul Kelly, Neil Finn, The Waifs and many more.

Over 6000 people from across Australia attend the Riverboats Music Festival each year, cementing the event’s place as a major driver of tourism and economic activity for the region.

Riverboats won Gold (Festivals and Events) at the 2017 and 2018 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards, as well as Gold (Festivals and Events) at the 2017 QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards.

Tesselaar Tulip Festival

The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is a 30 day festival celebrating the tulip, Dutch history, flower farming and offering a diverse cultural experience.  In its 65th year, the Tulip Festival employs around 70 staff, of which most are local residents, and the overall attendance has grown to over 100,000. The festival is held annually in spring due to the flowering cycle of the tulip and the Victorian School holidays. Each year the festival brings the small town of Silvan, Victoria into the spotlight with a kaleidoscope of colour and an infiltration of visitors.
