Victoria to Showcase Tourism’s Best in 2016
The National Tourism Alliance (NTA) today announced Victoria will host the next annual Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, the tourism industry’s premier awards event recognising
outstanding industry achievements across 27 categories.
“These awards have been running for more than 30 years and recognise the true extent of excellence across the tourism industry,” National Tourism Alliance Chairman, John Hart said today.
“Each year we recognise and celebrate products across the country that provide outstanding service to both domestic and international visitors, and which help to build excellence in Australian tourism.”
The awards draw together more than 800 tourism business representatives from across the country along with Federal and State Tourism Ministers, CEOs of State and Regional tourism
bodies and tourism industry leaders.
Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren, welcomed the opportunity to host the awards, which will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“The Victorian Government is delighted to have this opportunity to welcome Australia’s premier tourism businesses and organisations for the Australian Tourism Awards,” Minister Eren said.
“The annual awards provide the perfect platform for recognizing and celebrating the outstanding work being done to develop and grow this important industry, which in our state alone generates $20.6 billion in economic activity and provides jobs for more than 206,000 across Melbourne and regional Victoria.”
“With over 80% of guests traveling to the event from interstate, these awards provide the perfect platform to showcase the best of Victoria and we will be ensuring they see what a wonderful tourism product our state has on offer,” Minister Eren said.
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 5 February 2016.
