Port Fairy claims Silver at the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards
Australia’s Top Tourism Towns have been announced by the Hon Dan Tehan, Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment, at a live streamed event broadcast across the nation.
Victoria’s beloved coastal town of Port Fairy secured the Silver Award for the Top Small Tourism Town (population under 5000).
As Victoria comes out of another lockdown, VTIC’s Chief Executive, Felicia Mariani, said it is a perfect time for us to acknowledge and celebrate all that our regional towns have to offer.
“With the challenges the tourism industry has endured over the past 18 months, these awards reminded us of how resilient and inspiring our industry is,” Ms Mariani said.
Tourism towns from across Australia competed for the honour of being named Australia’s Top Tourism Town. The inaugural Awards recognise and celebrate towns that demonstrate outstanding commitment to encouraging tourism and increasing visitation to their destination.
After taking out the top spot to win Victoria’s Top Small Tourism Town Award early this year, Port Fairy has done Victoria proud on the National stage. Ballarat was also a finalist at the national awards having won Gold in Victoria for the Top Tourism Town Award (population over 5,000).
“VTIC congratulates the businesses and communities of Port Fairy and Ballarat for their passion and commitment to providing an outstanding visitor experience.” concluded Ms Mariani.
The New South Wales town of Berrima claimed the Gold Medal for this category.
