Michelly Dall’Ava has an unwavering passion and dedication to the growth and ongoing success of her current organisation, Destination Melbourne and the visitor industry in Victoria. It is with pleasure that I nominate Michelly for the Young Achiever’s Award. For over two years, Michelly has been the Industry Development Coordinator at Destination Melbourne. In this role, she is responsible for a diverse range of industry development activities including the management of the Melbourne Tourism Leadership Program, and the coordination of Melbourne Tourism Week. She also provides advice and support to businesses and facilitates industry leadership and excellence.

Parks Victoria engages with over 20,000 volunteers who passionately protect, manage and support every corner of the state. In 2017-18, Parks Victoria volunteers set a record of over 280,000 hours of invaluable support through activities that includes campground hosts, track Rangers, Sherpas and tour guiding. Volunteer activities can be done individually or as part of a group and cater for every age, skill, motivation and ability type. The work undertaken by Parks Victoria volunteers ensures there are Healthy Parks for Healthy People and ultimately positions Victoria as a global leader of sustainable and accessible nature-based tourism.

On Dec 20th, 2017, St. Andrews Beach Brewery opened it’s doors for the first time with a new architecturally designed brewery, 180 seater beer pavilion, kitchen and event space. In addition, the site is home to over 8000 apple and pear trees, kitchen gardens, brewers hops and Australia’s first paddock to pot brewery. This unique sustainable enterprise is the site of the historic Freedman horse training facility nestled between 2 stunning coastal environments at the southern end of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Moonlit Sanctuary is a magical wildlife attraction set on a conservation park within the UNESCO sponsored Westernport Biosphere, less than one hour from Melbourne en route to Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island. Home to more than 300 native animals (30% of which are classified as threatened with extinction), Moonlit Sanctuary gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy close encounters with Australian wildlife while educating the community through their active work in conservation (particularly with Orange-Bellied Parrots), research and sustainability. Moonlit Sanctuary has Ecotourism Australia and Zoo Aquarium Association accreditation and is a founding member of the Western Port Biosphere Foundation.

The Riverboats Music Festival is the Murray River’s premiere contemporary music event.Staged in the twin-towns of Echuca-Moama on the third weekend in February each year, Riverboats takes place under towering river red gums in a natural amphitheatre next to the mighty Murray. Historic paddlesteamers meander past all weekend, and occasionally the corellas get a bit raucous at sunset.
