On the site of RedBeard, Trentham’s original bakery used a Scotch oven continuously from 1891 to 1987. The first baker, John Wolff, mixed and shaped all his dough by hand and fired the oven with local timber.

Over time the bakery grew and expanded into a café with a large viewing window that allows visitors to watch the bakers using the oven.

They also offer behind-the-scene group tours and sourdough baking workshops
