2011 Initiatives

To increase the brand recognition of the Victorian Tourism Awards, increased marketing of the Tourism Awards to the industry and Victorian community (year round marking). Editorial and marketing program with the Herald Weekly Times, visitvictoria.com and racv.com.au. 

 Working with VTIC on the development of case studies which profile entrants and the benefit of participating in the Tourism Awards. These case studies will feature throughout corporate communication activities. 

 Extending the Tourism Excellence program by working with Regional Tourism Managers for a second year to appoint Project Managers to provide assistance to Victorian Tourism Awards entrants.Mock judging will be offered to first time entrants working with Project Managers in the lead up to submissions being finalised in August.

  • VTIC will be delivering on behalf of Tourism Victoria the 2011 VTA workshops (six in total). The workshops have been designed for all entrants to this year’s Awards and will provide a valuable step-by-step guide to completing the submission, including examples of quality responses and helpful hints.
  • Trialling Visitor Appraisals for the winner of the Deluxe Accommodation Award and the winner of the Major Tour Transport Award (coordinated by National Tourism Alliance). The experience is designed to give the two winners a snapshot of how their business is currently performing, from the view of a visitor.If successful, Visitor Appraisals will be included in the Tourism Awards entry process across all categories from 2012.
