The ‘Beechworth Gaol Unlocked’ attraction has turned the Gaol that operated from 1856 until 2004 into the must see attraction in the North East of Victoria. Visitors to the Gaol enter through a ‘crime & justice’ themed gift shop and enter a prisoner muster room which is a space that rotates relevant exhibitions. The exhibitions shown so far include the ‘Deeming’ Murderer Exhibition from the State Archive Office and an exhibition of Crime Scene Photo’s from the 1940’s & 50’s on loan from the Victorian Police Museum. Three distinct and separate tours are offered being the Gaolers Tour, the Kelly Tour & the Lantern Tour.
