Celebrating its 20th year in 2010, the RACV Energy Breakthrough is an annual four-day event held in the picturesque parklands of Princes Park, Maryborough. The recumbent cycling event is the premier event of its kind in Australia attracting over 20,000 intrastate, interstate, and international visitors in 2010 and accounted for more that 28% of the annual tourism visits to the Central Goldfields region. This event has become an important feature on the Central Goldfields tourism calendar injecting a record $3.88 million dollars into the local economy and becoming the major catalyst for event-based tourism in the area.
