RACV Energy Breakthrough

RACV Energy Breakthrough

The RACV Energy Breakthrough is a four-day event based in the rural city of Maryborough. Science, technology and the environment are the themes of a festival that attracts 6,000 participants, as well as 12,000 spectators. The students push karts, pedal recumbent cycles, drive hybrid vehicles, sing, dance and present their way through a variety of races and events designed to help them better appreciate the fragile world in which we live. First conducted in 1991, the RACV Energy Breakthrough is now the largest tourism event in the Central Goldfields region. An independent study found that in 2008 alone it generated as much as $3.42 million for the local economy.
