Now 17 years on from inception, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is world-renowned among media, chefs and consumers alike. With a program of 250 events held over a 17 day period, Festival 2009 firmly cemented Melbourne’s and Victoria’s global reputation as Australia’s premier food and wine destination. A record 310,000 local, interstate and international visitors attended the Festival. From a World’s Longest Lunch table stretching along Crown Riverside and a gigantic BBQ at Federation Square, right through to alfresco city laneway and regional dinners, a bustling riverside Victorian wine marketplace – Festival 2009 highlighted the unique precincts and cultural sites that define our great state.
