| Geelong Otway Tourism: Regional Tourism - a Sustainable Approach |
|
Geelong Otway Tourism Inc (GOT) is the peak tourism marketing body for our region on the Great Ocean Road. We are responsible for setting and implementing strategic direction. Formed in 1993, GOT ascribes to a partnership approach to getting things done, we work closely with our 5 Municipal Partners and 4 Local Tourism Associations, to provide positive tourism outcomes for all regional stakeholders, including our host communities. Sustainability was a mantra of GOT well before the environment and its fragile state made it into the public consciousness. We developed our first Sustainable Tourism Directions paper in 2002, this document is regularly updated and provides the platform on which our policies are built. “Because our natural assets and vibrant villages are the reason that visitors come to the region, we must do all we can to ensure these assets and values are there for the generations to come.” Roger Grant, Executive Director, Geelong Otway Tourism Website: www.geelongotway.org
